EXILIM Engine HS 3

The EX-ZR800 employs a newly developed system for CASIO’s EXILIM Engine HS, which consists of a reconfigurable processor and a vector graphics core. The vector graphics core smoothly produces two-dimensional images, while the reconfigurable processor combines high-performance functions and high-speed processing via a dual-CPU, two parallel image processors and various other new technologies. These improvements deliver best-ever high-speed shooting capability, including 1.3-second¹ start-up time, 0.18-second² high-speed auto focus, and as little as 0.26-second³ shooting between frames. The camera also boasts a high-quality GUI. The display is very easy to view, making for intuitive operation.

18x optical zoom with lens shift stabilizer (36x SR Zoom) and 25 mm wide-angle lens

It's easy to zoom in on those special moments: The 18x optical zoom can bring even the most distant subjects right up close, while the lens-shift image stabiliser with five equivalent stops automatically reduces blurring. The EX-ZR800 has everything you need for any situation and guarantees outstanding photos.

5-axis HS Anti Shake

Camera shake which occurs in the five axes^*1 of pitch, yaw, vertical shift, horizontal shift and roll is precisely corrected. Casio has employed an optical lens that achieves stabilization equivalent to approximately 2 stops^*2 slower in terms of shutter speed. Bringing this effect together with combined high-speed burst images results in image stabilization equivalent to about 5 stops slower^*1 in terms of shutter speed. This allows users to minimize blur while holding the camera to take pictures, which can easily result in camera shake, even for shots of night scenes and when zooming. (Results may vary depending on the shooting environment and camera settings). In addition, the EX-ZR800 employs a lens-shift optical lens, which further reduces image blur on the LCD screen when recording movies or holding the camera.

Quick Response (Start up time, AF and interval)

In the time it takes for other cameras to extend their lenses, you can already have captured top-quality photos and videos with the EX-ZR800: Ready for use in approximately 1.4 seconds. To enable the photographer to quickly capture different subjects, several photos can be taken successively at intervals of just 0.26 seconds. What's more, the camera is fitted with an extremely high-speed auto-focus function, which takes just 0.18 seconds to find the focal point and bring it into focus, meaning you need never miss a beautiful, exciting or unique moment ever again.

Time Lapse

The new Time Lapse feature allows users to capture the slow movement of clouds in the sky, or of people and cars on a street, and then show long-time movement sped up. The capture interval and time for clouds, night views, vehicles, street scenes and so on are preset, so all the user has to do is simply select the scene to shoot to get the optimum setting. Of course, users can also adjust the settings manually.

The EX-ZR800 features a large, bright 7.6 cm (3.0") TFT colour display (super clear LCD) that permits viewing from almost any angle. In addition to the large viewing angle and a high resolution of 921.600 pixels, the TFT colour display provides above-average contrast, thus assuring an especially clear and sharp image of your subjects. The display offers above-average brightness to simplify viewing of your images, even in sunlight. You can select from 5 presets to match the brightness to the ambient lighting conditions: -1/0/+1/+2/Auto

16.1 Megapixels with High Sensitivity CMOS Sensor

The EX-ZR800 conceals a high performance of 16.1 megapixels in its slim design case. The CMOS chip with 16.1 megapixels does not only allow you to take brilliant photos, but also edit, enlarge and print out sections of a photo — in outstanding quality and with no loss of image detail.

Long battery life (470 photos acc. to CIPA)

Have you ever set up the perfect photo only to find that your battery is empty? Moments such as these are so irritating — but they can be avoided. The combination of an energy-saving processor and the high-performance lithium-ion battery ensures that the EXILIM EX-ZR800 will not run out of power even on long, eventful days — one battery charge allows you to take up to 470 CIPA standard photos.

Full HD videos with stereo and HDMI connection

Film your videos in full High Definition quality*! Thanks to the EX-ZR800, you are now able to capture brilliant videos in full HD (H.264) with a resolution of up to 1920x1080 pixels, 18x optical zoom and stereo sound. And what's more, while recording films you can continue to take photos with the High-speed Continuous Shooting feature, using the Still In Movie function. The EX-ZR800 also features a mini HDMI output socket and can be connected to an HD-compatible TV using a HDMI cable (ordered separately) — allowing you to view the videos on a large screen whenever it suits you.

Premium Auto Pro

With the EXILIM EX-ZR800, you can easily capture impressive photos in any situation thanks to Premium Auto Pro. In this mode, the camera automatically detects typical subject scenarios and selects the best settings automatically. In addition to face detection, make-up/landscape mode, night scene and back light, the Premium Auto Pro mode can also activate high-speed BEST SHOT programmes, such as high-speed night scene (with portrait), high-speed anti shake and the HDR function. This ensures that movements, shaking, back light, details and people's faces are automatically detected and perfectly focused and exposed. So there's no need to decide which BEST SHOT mode is most suitable for the situation; you can just focus your full attention on your subject, resulting in outstanding photos. And it's easy to access Premium Auto Pro — the feature can be selected quickly and easily using the function ring.

HDR/HDR Art

Users can create artistic photos using CASIO’s HDR-ART function, which combines continuous shots with differing exposures while performing advanced analysis to locally change the intensity of contrast and color saturation. Users can now choose from a total of five different processing levels of art effects to enjoy creating more freely expressive images, as two more levels have been added to the three previously available. These two new effect levels employ state-of-the-art advanced tone mapping technology to produce impressive tonal gradation for more dynamic photos.

HS Night Shot (ISO25.600)

Want to shoot a bright subject in low light? For this subject situation, the EX-ZR800 offers the HS Night Shot function. The camera merges High-speed Continous Shooting images of the subject that in reality appear dark. The result are photos with and ISO equivalent up to 25.600 - even without a flash.

Blurred Background and All-in-Focus Macro function

The EX-ZR800 comes with All-In-Focus Macro, which selects only in-focus areas from continuously shot images at different focus settings to produce a composite image. This achieves photos with every area coming out in focus, from foreground subjects to far-away backgrounds, which are hard to produce using a conventional camera. Also, CASIO has employed its high-speed continuous shoot technologies to create Blurred Background, an original technique for processing the background scene of a shot like the soft blur effect attainable using a single-less reflex camera, thereby accentuating the subject of the photo. Users can select from three different processing levels of blur effects to set the background focus just as they wish.

Triple Shot (takes 3 picture per one shutter button)

The EX-ZR800 transforms moving moments—and moving subjects—into memories that last. All this is made possible thanks to the new Triple Shot function: The touch of a button and three consecutive photos are taken quickly and easily — one before release, one during and one shortly after.

HDR technology

Press the shutter release button, and the HDR function creates multiple shots with different lighting, and combines these into a brilliant single photo with high contrast depth. With this function, both light and dark surfaces are evenly accentuated, whereas areas that are too bright or too dark are attenuated.

Art Shot

Works of art can be done easy with the EX-ZR800 thanks to the Art Shot function. The function offers a choice of 8 different effects such as Toy Camera, Miniature, Soft Focus and Pop Art, allowing you to create impressive, artistic photos. Sparkling Shot is a completely new feature. All effects up to the "Sparkling Shot" effect are also available in video mode.
